Subtitles support, output to ISO, DVD folder

In July 2010 Freemake Video Converter was released for the very 1st time. It was different from what we have now. Since that time we’ve received thousands of messages with your suggestions, feedback, and ideas. We made our best to read them all and created a product log based on your most desired features. Now we are glad to say that we’ve already added some of them.

This is the first 2011 major update of our Video Converter that brings a bundle of new functions frequently requested by our users. The video converter features the full subtitles support – both embedded in DVD, MKV, MOV and external SSA/SRT/ASS ones. Users can also add a custom audio track to any video.

If you study languages or simply like to enjoy foreign movies in the original language, this option is right what you need. Now Freemake Video Converter lets you add subtitles to a video. Please note that subtitles will be encoded in the video what means that you won’t be able to turn them off. If your video comes with such subtitles, you won’t be able to remove them either.

To add the text to your movie, you need to:

  • Download a corresponding SRT file in a necessary language;
  • Run Freemake free software on your PC;
  • Add your media file;
  • Pay attention to the line with your multimedia, you’ll see “No Subtitles” button there. Click it to see a drop-down menu and choose the “Add subtitles option”;
  • Choose your text file;
  • Select an output format, a ready preset and convert your video.

Currently the software support only one subtitles font and size. However, we plan to add customization option in future releases.

Please note that you may keep DVD subtitles after changing the movie format with our Freemake DVD Ripper. They will be hard-coded into the film, so you may convert it to any format.

Many improvements were introduced to DVD/Blu-ray burning. The new Free Video Converter makes it possible to save the output DVD/Blu-ray video to the hard disc as an ISO image or DVD/Blu-ray folder and burn multiple DVD copies.

No doubt DVD creating is one of the most popular features. Our users make a great number of discs with their online clips, family parties and travel stories every day. It might be a real problem when you spend time creating a cool movie and then find out that you have run out of blank disks. Don’t worry! You don’t have to lose your project and start it again later anymore. You can simply save it as ISO image or a DVD/Blu-ray folder and burn onto a DVD later.

In case you want to keep a project on your hard drive, follow these steps:

  • Add all the films you want to burn onto a disc;
  • Click “to DVD” or “to Blu-ray” option;
  • Click the dope-down menu to the left on a grey square with NO menu sign;
  • Select “Save to folder” or “Create ISO” options;
  • Click the “Convert” blue button to save your project as ISO image or folder.

By the way, you may also change Blu-ray video into other format with our free MTS to MP4 converter.

Among other new features is a new photo slideshow manager. It allows users to edit the final slideshow: add, delete, move, or shuffle pictures within it and enable panorama effect.
