How to convert video to MPEG2 free

Run the Freemake file and install the tool on your computer. The installation is pretty easy and won’t take you much time. You can choose a full installation or a custom one. The latter lets you select a folder for the MPEG-2 app and select whether you need icons to quickly access it.
Free Freemake MPEG2 tool will start automatically when the process completes.

Select the media to transform to MP2. Click File – Video. You can also do it with the help of “+Video” button or using drag-and-drop option.

You may add HD movies, non-HD ones, convert AVI, MP4 or DVD to MPEG2 at the same time. However, please keep in mind that all input films will be saved with the same settings. In case you want to watch the movies on a particular device, it’s OK. If you need clips to be of different qualities and resolution, please encode them one by one.

Choose “to MPEG”. Look at the free software bottom line. You will see green buttons with output formats. If you can’t find it, click on the arrow in the bottom right corner of the utility to get more output options.

In case you are going to save clips to MPEG format regularly, add it to Favorites to have it always on the main tool screen. To do it, click the star sign next to MPEG format.

Choose a preset. In a new window that will appear when you select the extension, click on the menu with quality choices. Choose a necessary profile among the ready ones (TV or DVD) or select the “Add custom preset” option.

To create a personalized profile, choose a codec for your future film (MPEG-2), then set a frame size (ready and custom option available), bitrate, fps, and audio parameters.

At the end set a folder where your new media will be saved.

Convert to MPEG2. When everything is ready, click the “Convert” button to start the encoding procedure.

If you have many files, you can enable the “Shut down” option to make the MPEG conversion freeware turn off the PC after the conversion process stops.
